How it Works
Below you will see pictures and descriptions of some of my hats.
Unless otherwise noted, each item is one-of-a-kind and you will
get the hat shown in the picture.
That said, hats are a bit different from my larger garments. I
usually do have a few around in the same style as the hat in the
picture, but done in different colors and materials. Hats are also
quicker to make than other garments, so custom work can be more
practical. Please inquire by e-mail.

material, sewn together along the outer edge and sewn to a
one-inch wide headband. All seams are done with an overlock
serger.
Made with the Randwulf's Round Hats pattern.
E-mail randwhit@moirandalls.com and ask for BERET001 - $5
I also have these lightweight unlined berets on hand in red short-pile velour, baby blue robe velour, black woolen, purple insulated woolen, blue cotton twill, brown fleece, navy blue twill, and dark gray corduroy. There are also several camoflage patterns. I call these "Camo Shanters."

BAL001 - Royal Blue Randwulf's Balmorral
Material: Royal Blue thick Felted Woolen with White Cotton Twill
lining, a black grosgrain ribbon cockade, black grosgrain one-inch
size-adjustment ribbons, and a black acrylic toorie (the fuzzball
on top).
Head Size: 24 inches, adjustable to smaller sizes using the back
ribbons as a drawstring.
Unlike the balmorrals imported from Scotland and Canada (whose
crowns are made in one piece, formed around a block), the
Randwulf's Balmorral is built of two 12-inch circles of thick
felted wool material, sewn together along the outer edge then
soaked in hot water and hand-formed to smooth the outer edge. The
hat is lined with cotton fabric and sewn to a one-inch wide
headband of the same felted wool. All seams are done with an
overlock serger.
Made with the Randwulf's Round Hats pattern, which also explains how to make the cockade and toorie.
E-mail randwhit@moirandalls.com and ask for BAL001 - $15
BAL002 - Tan Randwulf's Balmorral
Material: Tan thick Felted Woolen with turquoise lining, a brown
grosgrain ribbon cockade, brown grosgrain adjustment ribbons, and
a black acrylic toorie (the fuzzball on top).
The
hat is lined with a satin-finish fabric and sewn to a 1.5-inch
wide headband of the same felted wool. All seams are done with an
overlock serger.
Made with the Randwulf's Round Hats pattern, which also explains how to make the cockade and toorie.
E-mail randwhit@moirandalls.com and ask for the tan BAL002 - $15
I also have some Randwulf's Balmorrals in Black, Navy Blue, Kelly Green, Forest Green, Purple (with a bonded insulation material), Magenta (Ugh!), Baby Blue, and Yellow. Sizes vary, but tend to run in the 23-24 inch range. White cockades and red toories are also available. Please Inquire as to availability.
Please write your check or money order to "Randall Whitlock."
TAM002 - Yellow McLeod Tam O'Shanter has been sold.
But I have some Tam O'Shanters in Black Watch, Dress Stewart, Black Stewart, an "ancient colors" Frasier, a small-sett Wallace, and a number of MacNobody plaids in various dominant colors.
When a plaid found in a US fabric store matches a family plaid, it's usually an accident. If you are looking for a particular family tartan, try Scottish Lion or one of the other import specialty stores.
Muffin Caps
My muffin caps are built of 18 to 20-inch diameter circles gathered to a headband in 16 pleats. All seams are done with an overlock serger. Because of the thickness of the pleats, I don't include a lining.
Made with the Randwulf's Round Hats pattern.
I have some muffin caps on hand in white cotton, black woolen; blue, brown or black polar fleece for winter; black corduroy, a rose brocade, black velvet, black broadcloth, blue and red particolored by quarters, tan houndstooth wool, black & white cow-print twill, and a coarse-textured brown linen/rayon blend. Please inquire if any of these strike your fancy.
Please write your check or money order to "Randall Whitlock."
GLEN001 - Black Randwulf's Glengarry
Material: Black thick felted Woolen with lining, a black
grosgrain ribbon cockade, black grosgrain one-inch back ribbons,
and a black acrylic toorie. The sketch uses different colors to
make the parts easier to distinguish.
Head Size: "Large" 22.5-24 inches, not adjustable
Unlike the glengarries imported from Scotland and Canada (whose
crowns and sides are made in one piece, formed around a block and
stiffened with pasteboard or buckram inserts), the Randwulf's
Glengarry was designed to be made on an ordinary sewing machine
without blocks. It is built in two or three pieces, with the crown
a separate piece from the sides. The thicker woolen does not
require stiffening. The edges of the hat and and the back ribbons
are integrated, made of folded-over black grosgrain ribbon.
Made with the Randwulf's Glengarry Bonnet pattern, which also explains how to make the cockade and toorie.
E-mail randwhit@moirandalls.com and ask for GLEN001 - $15

two 12-inch disks sewn together around the outside edge and a brim
formed of two more disks. All seams are done with an overlock
serger. Kitten not included.
Made with the Randwulf's Round Hats pattern.
E-mail randwhit@moirandalls.com and ask for FLAT001 - $12

Material: Lightweight Brown linen/rayon/poly blend with an
interesting coarse texture. No lining.
Head Size: 25 inches, adjustable to smaller sizes with a
drawstring cord.
My 6-gore tams are made from six curved triangles, like a baseball
cap but on a larger scale. The big hat crown is gathered in pleats
to a one-inch headband. A black acrylic toorie is affixed at the
juncture of the six gores. All seams are done with an overlock
serger.
Made with the Randwulf's Round Hats pattern.
E-mail randwhit@moirandalls.com and ask for 6GORE001 - $12

COIF001 - Cotton Knit Randwulf's Arming Coif
Material: T-Shirt weight cotton-blend knit. The edges are serged.
Size: Fits head sizes in the 22-24-inch range, 16-19 inch necks
This is a close-fitting hood that goes well under chainmail or a helmet for hair and perspiration control. It's a lot easier to wash than your helmet padding! It's also good for supplemental insulation. I wear one under my cloak hood or balmorral on cold mornings at the Estrella war. I also wear one under my helmet for winter bicycling.
Made with the Randwulf's Arming Coif pattern.
E-mail randwhit@moirandalls.com and ask for COIF001 - $6
I have Randwulf's Arming Coifs in an odd mix of colors depending
on what fabric I have found lately. E-mail to tell me what you are
looking for. I usually have black and white on hand.
Randwulf's
Biggin
My biggins are close-fitting hoods that tie under the chin. They
are made in three panels using my Randwulf's Biggin pattern.
I consistently have biggins in unbleached cotton muslin, floral
brocades and black twill. Other colors and fabrics may be
available.
